Spreadex Review
Spreadex was founded in the exciting year of 1999 and began trading in 2000. It’s big on sports betting and financial trading. Based in the UK it moved to its new headquarters in St.Albans, Hertfordshire in 2014 after significant growth led to a need to accommodate an increased workforce.
It’s a spread betting firm which offers punters an alternative to traditional fixed odds betting on football, horse racing and many, many more. It has a UK gambling licence as well as being regulated by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
It was founded by former City trader Jonathan Hufford with the aim of making spread betting more accessible to the masses.
The Spreadex mobile app was released in the summer of 2011 and in the same year the online casino aspect was launched. Two years later the non-equities business of rival spread betting firm Cantor Index was purchased. Spreadex maintains a social media presence across multiple channels. There’s a Spreadex Twitter account (@spreadexsports) though it has under 4,000 followers, and there’s pages on Facebook, Google +, Youtube and Linkedin too.
Betting Markets
Spreadex runs markets and odds in a number of different sports. You can see which ones here: Football, Horse Racing, Aussie Rules, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Darts, Golf, Greyhounds, Ice Hockey, Motor Racing, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Tennis.
This is in addition to financial betting, something which Spreadex is very good for and Politics markets are offered too.
In-play Betting
Spreadex is big on in-play, it takes up much of the main homepage with current events and those coming up too. Spreadex cash out is available on accumulators as well as singles which is a nice touch, and there is some live streaming of events to boot!
Usability of the site
You can search for a bet with the search bar function, or browse the traditional way via the left hand column. The site is well laid out, it’s simple and largely graphic and promotion free. There’s help at hand should you need it, with the main tabs bar consisting of Sports, In-play, Casino, Financials and Help.
Clicking Help takes you to a comprehensive section featuring differing categories of FAQs, a spread betting glossary to ensure you understand all the betting terminology and jargon being thrown around and a player performance section too. Spreadex allows customers to cash out, it offers betting guides and tips and has been commended time and again for great customer service. The Investment Trends UK, CFD, FX and Spread Betting Report have awarded it the best spread betting firm for customer support three times.
The Spreadex mobile app was released in the summer of 2011 and in the same year the online casino aspect was launched. There’s a Spreadex sports betting blog but it isn’t the most impressive in terms of appearance or content and needs a revamp.
Spreadex operates a Refer a Friend scheme which can earn you a decent free bet bonus and there are plenty more promotions too to keep players enticed. The opening sign up offer is worth mentioning as it enables you to get up to £400 in complimentary spread bets. To earn this customers must open an account and simply place five qualifying sports spread bets These bets must have a minimum £2 stake with each able to win and lose £20. Bettors must then place further qualifying bets to earn a second spread bet bonus. The requirements are somewhat complex, perhaps a little too complex.
Conclusion
If you’re interested in trying out spread betting then Spreadex is a great place to start. The site is well designed, there are mobile apps meaning you can try it out on the go and there are some decent Spreadex promotions such as the sign up offer. Spread betting is generally geared towards more serious bettors but with the range of resources available at Spreadex it is for anyone willing to put in some time and effort to get to grips with it.
It’s won its fair share of awards and the option to learn about and try financial betting is something that may tempt some of the more serious punters.
