Interwetten Sportsbook Review

Interwetten is a bookmaker which was founded in 1990. It offers customers sport betting, casino, games and live casino wagering options.

It was originally solely a land based bookie but in 1997 it became the very first company worldwide to offer customers online sports betting. As such Interwetten holds something of a prominent position in the history of sports betting.

Despite having its origins in Vienna, Austria the firm is now based in Malta, its site is available to punters in over 200 countries globally and is available in ten languages. It was one of the founding member organisations of the European Gaming & Betting Association (EGBA) and it also joined the European Sports Security Association (ESSA) which was founded in 2005. Interwetten has a Spanish licence via the DGOJ, and a separate site www.interwetten.es for these customers, whilst it also acquired a licence for the region of Schleswig Holstein in Germany in 2012 for sports betting and 2013 for casino.

Interwetten has in the past featured prominently in the world of club and league sponsorships. Between 2008 and 2011 it was the official club sponsor of RCD Espanyol Barcelona, and between 2011 and 2013 it was the official shirt sponsor of fellow La Liga side Sevilla.

Interwetten has also had some form of affiliation with the following Italian clubs; Fiorentina, Livorno, Hellas Verona, Parma, and Calcio Catania.

The bookmaker was the primary sponsor of the Austrian First Football League SC Untersiebenbrunn which at that point was called SC Interwetten. Interwetten has also sponsored tournaments and teams in other sports including

It’s a well-known name in sports betting, and has a presence across social media including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Pinterest and Google+.

Betting Markets

Interwetten operates a number of betting markets for its customers including: American Football, Aussie Rules, Alpine Skiing, Badminton Baseball, Basketball, Biatholon, Boxing, Bowls, Chess, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Esports, Football, Golf, Handball, Horse Racing, Ice Hockey, Motor Sports, Pesapallo, Pool, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Sailing, Snooker, Superbike, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo.

It also runs Politics markets too.

In-play betting

Interwetten was something of a pioneer in mobile betting, and as such betting on the go too. Interwetten live betting has been well designed; it’s clear and simple to use, it could be glammed up a little to make it more fun and inviting but the product itself is solid, and the statistics are top notch.

Usability of the site

The Interwetten site is based on ease of use, and simplicity. Its yellow, grey and black colour scheme is further proof of this as is the layout. There’s a rather unique drag bar to show events coming up in the next 1, 2, 3 to 6 plus hours.

You can log in and make an account via Facebook, Google + and Paypal which is another user friendly feature too.

The mobile site is excellent and ideal for betting on the move. Customer support is reachable via the top right ‘Contact’ tab, and there is an FAQ Help section located next to this too. Interwetten can be contacted by the form on the site, by email ([email protected]) and by phone too. It does not, to its discredit, have live chat as an option.

Conclusion

Interwetten is a well established pioneering bookmaker which operates a strong depth of markets and sports, and is well represented via sponsorships too. It needs to improve its customer service options by adding live chat, and should consider investing in live streaming too to improve its inplay product.

That aside it’s a trustworthy operator and has some great promotions which you should consider getting your hands on today!
